The Rocky Mountain Hemophilia and Bleeding Disorders Association
(RMH&BDA) primarily serves Montana and Wyoming residents. It provides
the following services to those affected by bleeding disorders or
anyone interested in learning more:
Education
RMH&BDA disseminates information on inherited bleeding
disorders and their complications, including hepatitis and
HIV/AIDS, to consumers, health care providers, and the public.
RMH&BDA also supports the National Hemophilia Foundation's
Prevention Program Guidelines, which include getting an annual
comprehensive checkup at a hemophilia treatment center, getting
vaccinated (hepatitis A and B are preventable), treating bleeds
early and adequately, exercising to protect joints, and getting
tested regularly for blood-borne infections. The organization
also publishes and distributes a quarterly newsletter and
maintains a library of brochures, books, articles, videos
and audio tapes.
Peer Support
RMH&BDA sponsors an annual family camp for affected members
and their families, assists families in getting to their nearest
satellite clinic held annually by the Mountain States Regional
Hemophilia and Thrombosis Center, and hosts lunches at each
of the satellite clinics.
Resource and Referral
RMH&BDA gathers and maintains listings for specialized
hemophilia care and emergency clotting factor acquisition,
sponsors youth to hemophilia camps, provides financial reimbursement
guidance, and supports comprehensive bleeding disorder care
in Montana and Wyoming.
